Securing the Future of Indonesian Children With Positive Education Program


To improve the quality of education for children, UNICEF developed the Child Friendly Education Program implemented in several regions in Indonesia, one of which is Papua.

The plan, the education program includes two modules, namely positive and creative disciplines connection. Discipline module is an alternative way to educate children without the use of violence or physical punishment. As for creating the connection aimed for parents and teenagers, which aims to improve communication skills in solving everyday problems, and to build positive relationships between parents and children, as well as inter-adolescent relationships.

Nonetheless, the goal of the program is not only intended for children, but also intended for household mothers, because the figure of the mother is in the early stages of educating and raising a child.

Because it is positive and constructive, so the program is getting a lot of support from various parties, ranging from governments, local organizations, and private parties.

And one of the parties which strongly supports the UNESCO program are Bank Central Asia (BCA). Starting from 2000, the Bank has formed a partnership with UNESCO Indonesia in positive activities are coordinated by the UNESCO. And in September 2014, the Bank and its management team and an ambassador of UNESCO visit to Wamena, Papua, to see firsthand the implementation of the Child Friendly Education pilot in the area.
